Mary Ann Forsbury married William Shipgood about 1863, or did she?

Here is their marriage recorded 50 years later. It looks like when the great grandchildren started arriving they decided to finally get married. Or at least that is one interpretation of the evidence. The names Forsbury and Shipgood are so uncommon, that I have no doubt it is them. This is recent enough that the official record should list Ann's maiden name. Older marriage certificates just list the fathers.

Richard Samuel Ing was uncertain whether James Waller went to Australia or New Zealand. The 1936 history by Millicent Ing, Jane Hatherley Ing, and Louisa Wright Ing, says that James Waller went to Australia. July 2006 - I found his descendants in Australia.

I have checked all Waller marriages on NSW BMB and births of spouses as of July 2006.

Hi Bill
Sorry for my tardy reply, we have family visiting so I am not accessing email daily.
I am absolutely thrilled you found me, I put aside my Waller history years ago to become the International Co-ordinator of the British King [ship] 1839 Genealogy Research Project and to help transcribe the 1841 census for Scotland [my paternal line are Scottish]
I will have to get my Waller history out on Tuesday when our visitors have gone and get back to you, sorry.
How about that, my cousins and I never knew about the ½ family wait till I tell them.
Where do you live? I ask this as if you are in England I will be in London next year for a few days, if you weren’t too far away maybe we could meet.
My husband and I went to Rogate in 2000 so I could see where James was born, and to St.Marylebone to see the church and to see where they lived in London before James and Mary came to Australia, it was a wonderful experience. We went back again in 2002 and although we will be in London for a few days next year, we hope that at sometime in the future we will get back for a longer holiday just to tootle around the English and Scottish country-side.
I am very interested in all lines of the family and would love to know all about your line. I did the Waller history before I had my new computer but will try and copy it to something more modern and email it to you.
James Waller was a carpenter and built boats here, his son, George was my great grandfather and was lived with us when I was a tot but I remember him as being an old man with a huge white walrus moustache and I used to sit on his lap and he told me family stories. His first wife, my great gran Elizabeth was German and came from Dahenfeld and I am going to take my granddaughter there when she is a teen, sadly Gran died young [49] from a hereditary heart complaint [right through the German line of my family] and George became estranged from his daughters because he married too soon after Gran’s death, His 2nd wife also died young and so in his old age he ended up being cared for by my grandparents and my Mum thus he lived with us in my grandfather’s house in Sydney.
Well I am being called and we are taking the grandchildren to the beach to expend some energy so will get back to you Tuesday.
Kind regards
Irene

Hi Les,
Yes, I am researching them, though my "research" thus far has been limited
to building this family from the BDM indices.
Emily Jane WALLER married George Alfred HODGES in 1879 in Maitland, and one
of their daughters, Ettie May HODGES married into my PERCY line.
Are these the ones you're interested in?

Hi Les,
I don't know if WALLER is a common name, but I feel there may be a
connection in these families both coming from England and settling in the
same area.
Emily Jane WALLER's parents were John Alcemine WALLER, b abt 1823 and
Charlotte Ann MORAD b. abt 1827. They married in England and arrived on the
Thomas Arbuthnott in 1849.
I'll keep your message on file.

As a newbie to this NG I hope this query sits here. If not would appreciate advice as to the
correct NG please.
I am researching my family name WALLER.
To date I have tracked the line back to my great grandfather WESTROP WILLIAM WALLER who was an auctioneer in SALE Victoria. It appears he arrived in Australia in 1850 and was born in England
abt.1811.
He had two families , in all 6 sons(at least). One son with the unlikely name RINGROSE CABBURN WALLER was born in Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk, England. The other sons were born in Sale(of a different mother) and one of these, HORACE WALLER born in Clydebank (near Sale Victoria) in 1876, was my grandfather.
In short if you are researching WALLER and your searches have taken you to the Gippsland area in
Victoria there is a fair chance we are looking for the same family. My next search is to find the ship which brought WESTROP WILLIAM to Australia.
Would therefore dearly like to correspond with you with a view to sharing results.

Looking for Adwicks the right age, I found this one at nearby Harting. He was already married and had a son Henry Adwick in 1834.

Dear Bill:
It was very nice to hear from you. Believe it or not, I live in Michigan, Nathan lives in Australia. Most of what he has he got from me, most of what I have came from Irene Kerr in Australia. I am not actually a descendant of the Waller's. James' son George's first wife was Elizabeth Henery. I am related to the family through the Henery (Heinrich) side. Same with Nathan, he descends from Elizabeth Henery's brother. In today's mail I got a postcard from Irene and she mentioned that a "Waller" relative from Canada had contacted her. I wonder if that is you? Irene has been to England and has done a lot of research on the Waller family so I know she could be a big help to you. I do appreciate all the information that you sent. Most of my relatives came from Germany except for one great grandmother from Ireland. I have had a devil of a time trying to find any information out on her. So I spend most of my time researching my German lines. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi Cheryl,
I noticed you are researching the Waller family.
My husband is a descendant of John Alcemine (1823 - 1904) & Charlotte Ann (1826 - 1917) (nee Morrad) Waller through their son Enoch Waller (1855 - 1943). The family lived around Maitland.
There are two unrelated Waller families in the Maitland area. Are you connected with this one?
Enoch Waller's sister Alice Waller married Richard Studdert in 1887.
Richard Studdert (1862 - 1903) was the son of Robert Studdert & Marianne Frances Jane Moore (Laughton). Robert is buried in the St John's C/E church yard at Paterson. The headstone is hard to read but states: "Sacred to the memory of ROBERT STUDDERT who was born in Bunratty, County
Clare, Ireland on the 25th March 1817 and departed this life at Forest Lodge, Paterson on the 27 May1879."

Info from Irene Kerr for parents is identical, but she has her christened in the same church 17 Jan 1835. Other info from Irene on photograph of George Adwick Waller says she was christened 14 Feb 1833.

While I think of it, the date on the tree I sent 1901 for Mary Wheelers death is a typo, she died in 1909.
